Residential and Commercial Sewer Camera Inspection

Most camera inspection calls start with a drain that keeps clogging no matter how many times it has been cleared, or with a home sale where the buyer wants to know what is under the yard before closing. Property managers and restaurant operators need the same look inside a line, with scheduling that fits the business and a record of the visit for the maintenance file. In every case, the visit ends with you knowing what the pipe looks like inside, what that means, and what a sensible next step would be.

For Homeowners

If the same drain keeps backing up after it has been cleared, or several drains in the house slowed down at once, the pipe itself is usually the question, and a camera is the way to answer it without opening up the yard or the floor. Homebuyers are in a similar spot: a standard home inspection typically does not include a look inside the sewer line, and older homes often have cast iron, clay, or Orangeburg pipe that has been in the ground for decades. Tell us what you have noticed, where the cleanout is if you know, and whether there is a closing date in play. You watch along as the camera moves through the line, hear what the picture means in everyday language, and leave with a clear idea of what, if anything, needs attention.

For Businesses

Restaurants, multi-unit buildings, and managed properties tend to call when one line needs clearing over and over, when a budget is being set for pipe work, or when a lease or purchase is on the table and nobody knows the condition of what is underground. We schedule around your operating window, confirm access and the on-site contact ahead of time, and keep the inspection out of the way of tenants and customers. You get the findings explained on site in terms you can pass along to an owner or a board, plus a record of the visit for your maintenance file. Share the pipe size and the length of the run if you know them, so we can confirm the job is a fit before the visit is booked.

Inside the Inspection

What a Sewer Camera Inspection Covers

A sewer camera inspection is exactly what it sounds like: a small waterproof camera on a flexible rod goes into the pipe through a cleanout or another access point, and the picture comes back to a monitor above ground. What separates a useful inspection from a quick look is the pace of the camera, the care taken to read what it shows, and an honest explanation afterward. Here is what the visit covers and what happens when the camera turns something up.

The Camera Run

The core of the visit: the camera travels the length of the line while we watch for anything that explains the symptoms or affects the condition of the pipe.

Step by Step

What Happens During a Sewer Camera Inspection

A camera inspection is a short visit with very little for you to do, but knowing the sequence makes it easier to book and easier to get value from. Before we arrive, the useful preparation is finding the cleanout if you know where it is, noting which drains act up and when, and pulling together any past plumbing or drain-cleaning invoices. From there the work is ours, and the explanation is yours.

1

Call or send the form with the property address, the type of property, and the reason for the inspection: a drain that keeps clogging, a home you are buying, odors you cannot trace, or a line you want checked after work was done. If there is a closing date or an inspection deadline, say so, since that sets the timing. We use those details to give you a free estimate and set a visit window that works.

2

On the day, we look for the best way into the line, which is usually a cleanout near the foundation, in the basement, or along the line outside. Knowing where yours is saves time, but if nobody knows, we work out the best available entry when we arrive. Keep the area around it clear so the equipment can be set up without moving things around.

3

The camera goes in and moves through the pipe at a steady pace while the picture comes back to the monitor. We slow down at joints, low spots, and anything that looks out of the ordinary, because that is where the causes of recurring clogs live. There is nothing you need to do during this part, though you are welcome to stand by the screen.

4

Once the camera is back out, we go through what we saw: the pipe material, its general condition, and any specific findings such as roots, cracks, offsets, or standing water, along with roughly where along the line each one sits. We put it in plain terms and tell you how serious each item looks and what it tends to turn into if it is left alone. Ask anything; the point of the visit is for you to understand your own pipe.

5

With the picture in hand, the next move is yours and it is usually clear: nothing further, a cleaning to deal with buildup, a closer look at one spot, or a conversation with a repair contractor armed with a specific description of the problem. If the line needs clearing, we can handle that as a separate service or in the same visit when it is booked ahead. Either way, you leave knowing what is in the ground and what it would take to deal with it.

Ready for a Sewer Camera Inspection? Let the Camera Settle It.

Whether a drain has been cleared three times and still backs up, a smell has no obvious source, or you are about to sign for a house with a fifty-year-old sewer line, the uncertainty is the expensive part. A camera inspection replaces it with a picture and a plain explanation. Tell us what is going on and where, and we take it from there with a free estimate, a visit window that fits your schedule, and the price confirmed before the camera goes in. Call or send us a message, and we'll get you a free estimate.

Sewer Camera Inspection Reviews From Our Customers

These Google reviews come from customers who have worked with the owner of 1620 Sanitation, and the same themes keep coming up: quick responses, clear communication, and fair dealing. Those habits matter just as much when someone is reading a camera screen and telling you what it means for your pipe. Read them for the pattern, and if you would rather hear it firsthand, call and ask whatever you want to know about the inspection.

Common Questions About Sewer Camera Inspection

These are the questions homeowners, buyers, and property managers ask most often before booking a camera inspection, answered plainly. If your situation is not covered here, call and describe what you are seeing; it is usually a quick conversation. None of this replaces putting a camera in the line, but it should help you decide whether that is the right next step.

General Questions

A sewer camera inspection feeds a small waterproof camera, mounted on a flexible push rod, into a sewer or drain line, usually through a cleanout, and shows the inside of the pipe on a monitor above ground. It is also called a sewer scope, a video pipe inspection, or a drain camera inspection. The point is to see the actual condition of the pipe (roots, cracks, offset joints, low spots, buildup) instead of guessing from the symptoms, and to do it without tearing up a yard or a floor.
